Zora’s Cicchetti experience in Doha

San Carlo’s Cicchetti restaurant has dropped anchor in Doha and I am delighted to be one of the first people to experience this fine dining.
I was excited about the opening for months and know all about the history of this remarkably successful chain. Cicchetti is an exceptional Italian restaurant that specialises in making diverse seasonal Italian cuisine in small plates, served with fine details along with interiors that define style and luxury.

With branches in London and Manchester, the restaurant chain has received multiple world-renowned awards, so don’t be surprised to learn that some of your favourite celebrities have dined here.

I arrived just in time for the ribbon-cutting and the moment I stepped through its doors, the atmosphere captivated my senses and thrilled my taste buds with the aroma of fresh Italian cooking.

The staff welcomed me with Italian expressions, and I chided myself for not having learned the language. At least for this evening, I could dine like an Italian lady.
I chose from their list of mocktails and as I contemplated the selection, I saw the table next to me being served lush purple-coloured drinks topped with berries. I asked one of the waiters what it was and he happily replied ‘Forest Fruit Fling’ and I replied I would have that. It was refreshing and definitely my kind of drink.
As an appetiser, they served fresh warm bread and Buratta with cherry tomatoes. The Buratta was remarkable and knowing that it was sourced from the best in Naples, I was more intrigued to experience it.

Main courses followed, starting with classic Italian meatballs, risotto with mushroom, Fitto Portofino – deep fried prawn, scallops and calamari served with garlic aioli and spicy Calabrian dip – vegetarian lasagne and Fra Diavolo, lobster with spaghetti and mashed potatoes with truffles sprinkled on top.
All the dishes were served on a wooden platter and I truly enjoyed my meal as I gazed upon the elegant interiors, which are just as mesmerising as the food, especially the lamps hanging from the 14-metre-high ceiling.

Cicchetti has now opened in Doha offering all-day Italian dining, so make sure to list them as one of your must-try restaurants.
