Private party in paradise

Sri Lanka’s 11-bedroom hideaway now available for exclusive use

Tri opened on the banks of Lake Koggala in January 2016. The brainchild of British photographer Rob Drummond and his wife, founder of Quantum YogaLara Baumann, the hotel is Sri Lanka’s first truly sustainable design hotel.

Designed to mirror nature’s Golden Ratio, a cinnamon-clad water tower sits at its core, home to three elevated rooms with a further eight suites dotted along the swirling hillside. There is an open-plan Main House located alongside the 21-metre swimming pool, home to the bar and outdoor dining areas whilst the glass-fronted library, located below the Yoga Shala is a progressive learning centre with books on subjects including art, architecture, religion, wellbeing and Sri Lankan history. The gastronomic offering has been created around the idea of harmony, with emphasis on self-sufficiency and much of the produce coming from Tri’s own edible gardens and nearby local farmers and producers. Guests are treated to a daily changing menu of fresh, light ingredients and twists on Sri Lankan classics.

A tranquil hideaway on the banks of Koggala Lake, Tri – Sri Lanka’s first luxury sustainable design hotel – is available for exclusive use, offering exceptional value. Starting at just $3,800 per night on an exclusive basis, the hotel is the perfect setting for a private party, family reunion, corporate takeover or wellness retreat. Sleeping up to 22 guests in eleven stylish suites and villas, and catering for up to 100, Tri is the perfect location for celebrations large and small.

For private parties and celebratory dinners, the lakeside hideaway is transformed for elaborate al fresco dining, whilst destination weddings see the hotel bedecked with flowers, lanterns and candles for the exchanging of vows.  Guests are treated to traditional Sri Lankan flavours, with menus completely tailored to guests’ tastes and preferences, and the hotel can organise for performances from local musicians and bands, offering guests the chance to add a unique Sri Lankan flair to any event with indigenous ‘Devil Dancers’.  The next morning guests can unwind with private access to Tri’s spa, rejuvenate with a brunch of traditional hoppers and feel-good smoothies packed full of local fruits and vegetables, or try their hand at creating their own with a traditional Sri Lankan cookery demonstration.

Home to an intimate glass-walled library and host of communal spaces, Tri is an ideal location for corporate takeovers and conferences. Designed with modular furniture, the library can be re-arranged for lectures and informal workshops, whilst the team can organise a programme of team-building activities and island adventures. Those looking to head off-grid and take a step back from city life can create personalised or group wellness plans to combine Ayurvedic spa treatments taking advantage of Tri’s fantastic wellness facilities, yoga flows with world-leading yoga instructors and nourishing Sri Lankan dishes, carefully curated to balance the individual’s dominant doshas.

Whilst Tri’s serene lakeside location exudes an air of tranquility and isolation, the 11-key hotel sits close by the walled city of Galle and just a short drive from several of the country’s most vibrant beaches, making it a gateway to Sri Lanka’s sun-drenched south coast. Tri’s private concierge can arrange a bespoke programme of activities to explore the surrounding landscape, including private surf lessons at nearby beaches, walking tours around the historic town of Galle Fort, and visits to working tea estates. Nature-loving guests can set out on a private whale watching tour along the island’s south coast to see the majestic giants up close, whilst party animals can spend days at one of the many surrounding lively beach clubs.  Closer to home, small parties can explore Tri’s neighbouring islands via the hotel’s very own dhoni, while larger groups can opt to charter a private yacht for a day of island discovery.

To book: Exclusive use of Tri (www.trilanka.com) starts from $3800 per night on a half board basis, based on 22 sharing, inclusive of taxes and service charges. There is a minimum 3-night stay.
